General Troubleshooting
-
Check to see if your design is cut all the way through with the bend test. If you can’t see the yellow backing, increase the knife pressure until you can see the yellow. If it passes the bend test, we suggest rubbing chalk on the design to highlight the cutlines and working in a well lit space.

-
We do recommend cutting the stencil after every design. In the case of larger designs, it is possible to build a guide at the floor level to encourage the stencil to fold over on itself when it hits the floor.
-
Our stencil is designed to have consistent thickness throughout the roll. It is possible that you may have a carriage head problem or knife holder issue with the plotter. We’re happy to schedule an appointment with one of our plotter experts to make sure it works as designed for you. Please give us a call and we’ll be sure to provide a solution for you.
-
Mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol can be applied to remove the thin film left on the substrate by our stencils. Petroleum distillate may also remove the film; however, it can damage the substrate and should be used with caution.
-
Our filler is not compatible with Anchor stencil products. For best results we suggest using U-Blast filler with our stencil products.
-
Our stencil is designed to be denser than other brands, so you may need to increase the pressure and blade depth. We recommend a test cut to see how our stencil cuts and to learn what adjustments may be needed.
If you see yellow, the settings are good. If it cuts all the way through, lower the pressure and blade depth.
We would be happy to schedule a meeting with our plotter experts or you can check out our YouTube channel for a how-to video if you need more help.
-
Denser = more protection. Our stencil is designed to make sure that the design withstands blasting at high PSI and protects the substrate completely, whether that’s aluminum, granite, or steel. This is what sets us apart and provides our customers the peace of mind that they will get the design they want.
-
Our double liner includes a yellow mylar - the double liner - in between the backing and the stencil to ensure that the design is held in place when double processing or working with complex designs. For simpler designs or jobs that require additional flexibility, a single liner is recommended.
